Mockumentaries are fictional documentaries that usually satirise and parody their subject matter. Mondos (meaning “world” in Italian) are mostly done seriously and depict portrayals of foreign cultures using sensationalism much like news outlets did during the Vietnam war. Cannibal Holocaust (1980) is probably the most well known in the Mondo subgenre.
