Universal Pictures was founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle and 8 others. The studio’s first release was The Dawn of Netta (1912), a silent 20 minute film. The Universal Monster series, which the studio has become synonymous with when it comes to horror, ran from 1931-1956.
Notable Films: Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), The Mummy (1932), The Invisible Man (1933), The Black Cat (1934), The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), The Wolf Man (1941), Phantom of the Opera (1943) and Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954).
