A top 10 list of my favourite characters from the Scream franchise. I'll admit, this was a hard list to make. I didn't realise how few characters I actually like in this franchise. I don't know why. I genuinely love the series (yes even the third movie which everyone else hates, I will die alone … Continue reading My Favourite Characters in Horror: Scream – Top 10
Category: Wes Craven
(August 2, 1939 – August 30, 2015)
Born Wesley Earl Craven in Cleveland, Ohio.
Notable works include: The Last House on the Left (1972), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) and Scream (1996).
Craven had an undergraduate degree in English and psychology and a master’s degree in philosophy and writing. In the mid-60s, he worked as a high school and college teacher. He left this to begin a career in filmmaking, beginning with “many hardcore X-rated films.” This lead into him teaming up with future Friday the 13th director, Sean S. Cunningham, on his first feature film (not porn), The Last House on the Left. Five years later he followed this up with The Hills Have Eyes (1977). In 1984 and 1996 he created two of the most iconic slasher killers in the horror genre; Freddy Krueger and Ghostface.
Fun fact: Wes only directed two non-horror movies in his almost 40 year career; Music of the Heart (1999) and Paris, je t’aime (2006). The former received two Oscar nominations.

After 24 years I'm pretty sure everyone knows everything about this movie, so I think it's hard to spoil at this point. I hope. This movie has been praised for its self-aware … Continue reading Scream (1996) Review *Spoilers (Possibly)*
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Review
Director and writer Wes Craven said he based the story on a series of articles he read in the L.A. Times about a group of young Cambodian men who had died in their sleep after having nightmares. Apparently, Freddy was originally written as a child molester, rather than just a child killer, but after a … Continue reading A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Review
