The British film production company was founded in 1962 by Americans Milton Subotsky and Max Rosenberg. Competing with similar popular British production company Hammer Studios, they used a lot of the same actors and directors, but rather than the Gothic period horror that the former focused on, Amicus dealt with anthologies and modern day (at the time) horror.
