Category: Takashi Miike
(August 24, 1960)
Born Takashi Miike in Yao, Osaka, Japan.
Notable works include: Audition (1999), Ichi the Killer (2001) and One Missed Call (2003)
Miike has been involved in more than 100 movies, since 1991, all of varying genres and themes. He is mostly known for graphic depictions of violence and gore, as well as unusual visuals and storytelling. Audition is considered one of the most disturbing horror movies of its time. His other movies include: Visitor Q (2001), The Happiness of the Katakuris (2001), Box [Three… Extremes segment] (2004) and Imprint [Masters of Horror episode] (2006), the latter of which was not included in the anthology show’s initial airing on network TV due to its disturbing content.
Fun fact: Apparently, Takashi’s favourite movie is Starship Troopers (1997). I respect that.
