(October 23, 1959)
Born Samuel M. Raimi in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Notable works include: The Evil Dead (1981), The Grudge (2004) and Drag Me to Hell (2009).
Raimi began his career off strong with the low-budget, hugely successful The Evil Dead movie. Its success resulted in a sequel/reboot with a larger budget. Then there came the third movie, Army of Darkness (1992). He has produced multiple horror movies such as: The Grudge (as well as it’s 2006 sequel and 2020 continuation), Boogeyman (2005), 30 Days of Night (2007), The Possession (2012), Evil Dead (2013) and Don’t Breathe (2016). He also executive produced Evil Dead Rise (2023).
Fun fact: Sam has been friends with long time collaborator Bruce Campbell since 1975 and has worked with him on multiple projects, beginning with Super 8 movies before they made the amateur film It’s Murder! in 1977.
